Hand Building Pottery

Wednesdays, 3-5 pm; April 29, May 6, 13, 20, 27, and June 3 ; $125 plus $35 supplies. Firing fee charged by number of pieces ($3-$4) - Maximum 6 adults.
 
       
  Discovering Pastels
Teacher: Jean Lajaunie

Saturday, 9:30am-3:30 pm;

One all day class April 18th; $62.50 plus student provides supplies; Saturday, 9:30-3:30 pm; One all day class June 13th; $62.50 plus student provides supplies; Whether inexperienced or experienced, participant will go home with a completed work of art in 1 day – Maximum 20 students.
       
  Drawing Workshop
Teacher: Mia Kaplan
Mondays, 9:00am - 12:00pm; June 1, 8, 15 and 22; $125 plus $35 supply fee.

In this four-week workshop, students will learn how to transfer compositions from what they see to paper, how to create space, use color, create murals and a life-sized self-portrait – Maximum 12 students, age 9-12.
 
       
  Clay Bird Sculptures
Teacher: Phil Galatas

Six week session: Thursdays, 6-9 pm; June 18, 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23; $125 plus $35 supply fee. Student will sculpt a 12” egret using water base clay, earthenware. A model will be available. Student will choose color to glaze bisque fired product. Bird anatomy and feather structure will be covered - Maximum 6 adults.

  Charcoal Drawing
Teacher: Jane Hill

June 15-19 (Monday, through Friday, class held each day); 9am-11 am; $125.00, plus 15 dollar supply fee. This adult drawing class is for students interested in learning how to explore one of the most fascinating artistic media: charcoal. Students will learn a range of techniques and work from a variety of visual resources to gain confidence and skill in the medium. All supplies will be purchased with a small supply fee. Older teens may sign up as well. Come draw with us! Maximum 10 adults and older teens.

   
3-D Clay Sculpting
Teacher: Michael Reed

July 17 -July 31; 3 Fridays, 12:30 to 4:30 pm. $125, plus $35 supply fee
This 3-week class will teach students a variety of 3-dimensional sculpting techniques, with an emphasis in clay media. Maximum of 10 students, ages 10 and up.
 
       
  Small Hearth Basket Weaving

Skill level – Beginner, Thursday, June 18, 2009, noon – 5:00 pm; $52.50, plus supply fee of $15 Saturday, June 27, noon – 5:00 pm; $52.50, plus supply fee of $15

This basket covers the basics of rattan reed constructed baskets. Class includes: Over and under weave, twining, handle construction and wrapping, Rim construction, Lashing. Learn this time-honored art. You will complete a basket in 1 session. Each session focuses on a different technique and style of basket. Maximum 10 students
 
Anatomy Drawing

Learn to draw the human figure with authority; perspective, foreshortening and drapery; achieve realism through the proper use of shading, dynamic composition and emphasis. Class minimum: 5 Class Fee: $125 Students provide supplies: Supply list: Newsprint pad, 16x20 or larger; 2B, 4B, or 6B charcoal pencils, 2B and 4B charcoal sticks, ruler, kneaded eraser, small clean cloth, and pencil sharpener or knife.

Memoir Writing
Teacher: Jeanne Northrup

Saturdays, June 20, June 27, July 11, and 18. from 1-3:30 pm
Group reading on July 25 at 7 pm. $100 + $5 supply fee
This workshop will give the novice writer practical exercises in personal memoir and cover the differences between historical and contemporary memoir as well as autobiography, biography, oral narrative, and other forms of writing about the personal past. Students will receive copies of excerpts from acknowledged experts such as Natalie Goldberg, Brenda Miller, William Zinsser and Judith Barrington, and several short contemporary memoirs. Students will participate in writing exercises, timed writings, the read-around, revise one writing a week to read at the next meeting, and finally revise one of the 4 to be presented at the Group Reading. Bring a college composition book or similar journal, writing instruments and paper.
 
 
  Wheel Throwing Pottery Class: Ages 13 and up
Teacher: Sara Edwards

Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning June 16th and finishing July 2nd, from 2-4pm. $125 plus $35 supply fee; Firing fee charged by number of pieces ($3-$4). Basic wheel techniques will be taught by this BFA graduate in Ceramics from the University of Kansas. Sara is a prodigy from Jane Hill’s Talented Arts, and will be with us this summer before she head’s off to graduate school! Maximum: 6 students.

 
  Video Production Workshop

July 20-23 with screening July 24. For youth 6th to 9th grades. 2-3 PM; for older teens and adults 6-9 PM. Limit 10. $150 plus $25 supply fee.
